Important Lessons I have Learned while Starting My Company

I decided it was time to compile all my notes of learnings into a simple list. This list will be ongoing for my time in the startup world and will link to specific blog posts that connect the experience to the rule.

NOTE: There is no order of importance here.

  1. Always stand when doing a presentation or a pitch, even when everyone (could be less than 3 people in the room) are sitting.
  2. When appropriate, take notes during the QA of a pitch (or right after a pitch) or presentation. Bring a notebook up with you so you can scribble down the questions or ask a friend in the audience to do so.

  3. Take the friction out of the user experience
  4. Do not attempt to do everything for everyone. Focus is crucial to success.
  5. Never blindly reply to an email. Always do your research on the person on the other end.
