Little Man, Big City

They said I couldn’t do it. They said I was crazy. They said stop before you start. I said let me try.

It’s been 3 months and I am feeling good. I have found an office space, received a few investments, had some not so good days and some out of this world days. I have engrained myself in the Chicago startup community and getting deeper every day.

This past week I attended the ITA IoT Summit. I felt like I was on top of the world. Not only do I love to network and meet new people, but I was in the thick of it. I was competitive and on par with the trends and the knowledge that was shared. Sessions about security, LPWAN, IoT trends and IoT use cases. Exhibitors from server side to network providers. I felt great because somehow using my intuition and a lot of research and conversation everything that I am doing and have been doing appears to be inline with best practice and all fitting into place.

I recently had a conversation with my grandpa about his land development business and he was saying how he doesn’t run a land development business, he runs a puzzle business. All he does is coordinate everything and put the pieces together and employ the experts to do the heavily lifting. I think in some unconscious way I am doing the same thing. Of course, underneath it all is a lot of hard work, sleepless nights, some stress and challenges, but at the end of the day my habits from the past are being exemplified today in my present.

I could not be happier with where I am today! I am on track for pilot studies to start in a few months and have a motivated team working together to stay on track. I have the seeds planted for all the right people in Chicago, they know me and know my company. I feel like the world is at my finger tips and I have have to do is execute and connect the pieces!
